S.M. Krishna (1932-2024): The visionary leader behind Karnataka’s IT revolution.

A titan of Indian politics and a change agent leader, Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna passed away on 10 December, 2024. When he left the world, he was 92. He made a mark in the developmental journey of Karnataka and shaped the country’s politics.

He is remembered to have laid a strong foundation for the IT and BT industries in Karnataka during his tenure as Chief Minister from 1999 to 2004. His visionary policies and administrative acumen have helped establish what is now popularly known as ‘Brand Bengaluru,’ making it one of the world’s IT capitals.
