V. Narayanan to Take Over at ISRO Head: Describes Job as ‘A Great Responsibility’

Outgoing Chairman, S. Somanath: “A Great Responsibility”

Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) outgoing Chairman, Dr. S. Somanath said it was ‘a great responsibility’. He succeeded former chairman, Dr. K Sivan, and will now pass on the baton to another veteran scientist and Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, Dr. V. Narayanan.

In his first remarks after the announcement, Dr. Narayanan termed the role “a great responsibility” and emphasized his commitment to advancing ISRO’s ambitious space programs. “This is an exciting time for India’s space journey, and I’m honored to lead ISRO into its next phase,” he said.

A Critical Phase for ISRO

His appointment is marked by a time when the propulsion areas are being gearing up for India’s high-profile missions such as Gaganyaan, India’s maiden human spaceflight program, and cutting-edge satellite launches. The propulsion systems will reinforce many of the ongoing and future projects of ISRO.

India’s space agency is also scaling up its international collaborations and focusing on private-sector participation in space exploration under its visionary agenda.

Stay tuned for more on Dr. Narayanan’s plans for ISRO and updates on India’s space milestones.
