Shahid Kapoor’s much-talked-about actioner, Deva, saw a significant drop in its collection from box offices on first Monday with rough projections indicating that it may not go as smoothly as the film had hoped for, especially after an awful opening weekend.
Summary of Box Office Till Date
- Weekend Opening: Deva opened on Friday with ₹5.5 crore, and then ₹6.4 crore on Saturday, and ₹7.25 crore on Sunday for a total of ₹19.15 crore.
- Monday Fall: Monday was a drop day for the film, taking in only ₹2.5 crore, around 65% less than the Sunday collection.
- Overall Collection: By the end of four days, Deva has earned a total of ₹21.65 crore from India.
Comparison with Shahid Kapoor’s Recent Films
In contrast to Shahid Kapoor’s recent release, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which managed to collect ₹3.65 crore on its first Monday, Deva has failed to sustain the interest of audiences. The steep weekday drop is a bad omen for the film as it may not achieve a major box office milestone.
Future Prospects and Competition
More than new releases Loveyapa and Badass Ravi Kumar ahead, competition does not make Deva‘s situation much easier, with the future being a couple of days where box office action may determine what ultimately happens.
Written and directed by Rosshan Andrrews and starring Shahid Kapoor, the film featured Pooja Hegde alongside the former, hit theaters on 31st January 2025. Expect the latest update in its journey of the box office.
