The authorities in Pakistan released 22 Indian fishermen from the Malir Jail in Karachi and began their process of repatriation. The fishermen, arrested about three years back for alleged fishing in the waters of Pakistan, were received by Indian authorities at the Wagah Border in Lahore. Their transport from Karachi to Lahore was arranged by the Edhi Foundation, who covered the costs and gave them gifts. This act of charity has drawn pressure from the Pakistani fishing community urging the Indian government to follow suit by releasing Pakistani fishermen arrested and held in Indian prisons.
