A BEST bus met with a major accident late Monday evening at Kurla West, leaving six dead and 43 injured. The accident resulted in six deaths and hospitalized many others in a critical state.

The bus swerved uncontrollably for about 200 meters before it crashed into a residential building’s column and came to a halt. Emergency services and local residents rushed to rescue passengers and transport the injured to nearby hospitals, including Bhabha Hospital.

The bus driver has been arrested and according to preliminary investigations the vehicle is newly registered, it has only been three months since registration. The main probable cause of the incident seems to be mechanical or related to the driver.
