What hell looks like: Satellite images of ravaged Los Angeles LOS ANGELES, California–Los Angeles may not be yet out of the woods from relentless wildfires, leaving a haunting scar on this city. A series of new satellite images unveiled recently captures in vivid detail large stretches of scorched land, dense plumes of smoke reaching into the atmosphere, and even neighborhoods reduced to ashes, all underscoring the scale of the disaster.

Thousands of residents have been evacuated, and emergency services are working round the clock to contain the blazes. Experts attribute the intensity of the fires to prolonged drought and high winds, conditions exacerbated by climate change.

People living in areas known to be high risk are being advised to keep safe homes and neighborhoods and to evacuate the area when they are ordered by the authorities as the firefighting efforts do not cease. The pictures starkly remind one of what lessons must be learned of the wildfire destructive nature and need of preventive measures.

Keep tuned for updates as the story develops.
